Description of lesson: In this lesson we will be discussing animals and reptiles as living things. We will discuss the differences between mammals and reptiles and about all the different animals from the birds in the sky to the sharks in the oceans. This lesson is for familiarizing the students with different types of creatures.
Assignment: There are two different assignments that the students can choose to do. It will be worked on both inside and outside of class. The homework directions will be the same for both assignments. Each student must write down five complete sentences on information about the creature of their choice. They will need to include: The creature and type of creature (mammal, reptile, bird, etc). Where it's commonly found. The average life cycle of the creature. How it contributes to the "circle of life". Why it's their favorite creature!
The in class assignment will involve recording all of their research onto the computer then they can choose to draw a picture of their creature to present with their research OR use a blabberize application to present their research. All of the technology for the in class assignment will be provided and instructions will be given. Assistance will also be given to each student individually when they are working on this part of the project.

Technology reflection: The technology used in this lesson will give the kids a chance to learn how to use different resources for research, but it will also give them a chance to teach that research to their peers in a fun way. Without this technology children wouldn't be able to access information and research quickly and easily.
Evaluation: My concerns with teaching this lesson is that the children might feel overwhelmed by the amount of information that is on the web. I don't want them to feel flooded with information on their research topic, bu that's why we will work on it together. So I can help them sift through all the information to find what they need to know specifically for this project. I also worry about the time restraints when I'm trying to record each individuals information and put it onto the computer.
