Description of lesson: This lesson is about death. It is about how life wouldn't be seen as such a beautiful thing without having to deal with loss of our loved ones. Death gives us an appreciation for life and how valuable and short it can be.
Assignment: The in class assignment will to discuss with peers about a person or even a pet that they may have lost and how it made them feel. They will also discuss if they would have preferred to not know that person so as to avoid the loss or if they are glad they had the time with them that they did. the homework assignment is to talk to a parent or guardian about a person or pet they lost and how it made them feel, they will then present in class.
Resources/materials needed:
Technology reflection: This will help kids relate and understand with the feelings of death. Everyone has to experience at some point or another and I went my students to learn that it gives you a chance to reflect on the good things in life and understand how precious it is.
Evaluation: I hope that this lesson isn't too sad of a topic for my students. It's an important thing to learn, but it's also a hard thing to learn. The video is used to give it a real effect and making it something the kids can relate to, but if some of my students have already dealt with the sadness of loss, I don't want this to upset them.
