Description of lesson: In this lesson we will be discussing the early stages of life. We will talk about babies of both the human and animal nature. This is a more exciting lesson which gives the students the chance to look at all kinds of cute pictures.
Assignment: The in class assignment is to discuss the early stages of life for multiple living creatures. This will prepare for the homework assignment. The homework is for the students to write a few sentences on how they felt when a baby sibling was born. If they do not have any siblings, they will write a few sentences about what they think they would like about having a younger sibling.
Resources/materials needed:
*This video discusses babies and how we all are taken care of when we are small but as we get older we get to choose our own paths and make our own decisions. Intro into homework.
This ties into the scope and sequence by talking about babies. I don't go into much detail about the actual action of birth, because I feel that is a concept that will be taught in a science class once they are older. We talk about siblings and if they don't have siblings other encounters or interactions that they have had with babies and this can expand to include animals and pets.
Technology reflection: The technology creates an interactive learning experience that gives the students a chance to have fun with their learning and also be exposed to a visually stimulating lesson. If we didn't have this technology, I wouldn't be able to show examples of this presentation and create an excitement around it.
Evaluation: My concern about this is that the kids will be to excited by the pictures to pay attention to the rest of the plan. I feel as though this can wither work extremely well in helping them learn or cause distraction that keeps them from seeing the bigger picture.
